Field note
The MC came to a family reunion I'd been dreading, mostly as an excuse to stand near the door. The 35mm on the MC turned out to be exactly how far I naturally stand from people, so I stopped composing and just looked. A single pair of AAs carried the MC from the first frame to the last. We scattered the ashes, and the MC caught my aunt smiling before she remembered to be sad — that print sits on her hallway wall.
